Afghan Mother and Child Rescue Charity
In 1997, at the request of a local community leader, ex British army officers Brigadier Peter Stewart Richardson and Major Roddy Jones set about their near two decade mission to build five maternity clinics in the Panjshir Valley, 93 miles north of Kabul, Afghanistan.
Through their small charity Afghan Mother and Child Rescue they personally raised funds through friends and acquaintances to achieve their aim. Their clinics – in Darre, Rokah, Sefid Shehr, Shaba and Shuttol are situated along the length of the valley and have saved countless lives.
